Member-only story
After watching The Bridges of Madison County, I felt compelled to write this poem. Having lived ‘in limerence’ the past few months myself, the subject of this story struck a chord deep within.

The emptiness follows me
Dragging its feet
I fell from a euphoric high —
That’s why it hurts so much.
The space between us will grow
Life events will come and go
But this feeling remains endless.
I’m sorry you had to leave
I torture myself by thinking
It was easy for you, but I’ll never know.
The depth I felt when we collided —
Two worlds not meant to be
Did you fall, too?
The distance grows longer
Yet the feelings grow deeper
Of a life unrealised with you.
